PROBLEM

Create a new market! Make people's life easier
We built a disruptive product to sit within their greater portfolio with the goal of emulating brand values while introducing a highly complex product in a straightforward, user-friendly way.

PROCESS

My responsibility was together with the Whirlpool team design a complete experience solution, from design to production.

Leading the design of visual design, interaction, colors, finishes and materials, were challenging and exciting at the same time. Also got the opportunity to nloco collaborate, develop and approve design and quality with suppliers in China and Brazil.

During this process different research methods were used to validate ideas and prototypes.
After user and business buy-in, product specifications were delivered for production.

We designed critical design features including a panel with the trendsetting ombre color effect, a backlit touch interface on the panel with “dead-front”, a removable cup tray, and a ventilation grille that is both functional and consistent with the product design.

Prototype Development and User Validation

We started by exploring various research methods throughout the design process to deliver a high-quality product and collected user feedback to ensure ease of use and accessibility of the platform. We built initial prototypes with guerilla paper then moved to plastic and more refined materials and then compared our prototypes to competitors’ products.

Service Blueprint Design

We supported the development of the end-to-end user journey with simplicity and accessibility at the forefront of the product and service.

RESULTS & IMPACT

This project showed us that a complete design experience + brand values + hyper collaboration between an expert team + the development of challenging technological process = an innovative solution that adds value both for the users and for the company.

In 2015, B.blend won Brazilian House Museum’s gold in medal for architecture and design.
