Story 2
Each of Us Has the Chair We Deserve
Connection
My first job as a designer was at an agency.
The pace was fast, filled with deadlines and competitions, with designers and advertisers just starting their careers, full of energy.I look back on that time with pride, seeing how far everyone has come; many have become prominent figures in both the national and global markets.
One day, I arrived at work to find that my chair had been replaced with a much better one—a sleek executive chair. It felt strange, but since I was told everything was fine, I sat down and got to work.
Just a few minutes later, the sales manager came in, looking confused, and asked who had swapped his chair for a wooden stool.
Behind "my" chair was a playful sign that read, "Each of us has the chair we deserve, even if our feet don’t touch the ground." I definitely didn’t reach the ground, and I still don’t!
The manager could have been upset, but instead, everyone laughed about it for days, and soon there were more pranks and new “victims.”
What did I learn from this experience?
A relaxed atmosphere doesn’t undermine commitment; in fact, it enhances it! Trust and openness foster integration, teamwork, and better results. We all share the responsibility for the company culture, and believe me, one person with the right energy can positively impact everyone around them.
2/10: This story is part of a series of personal narratives that embrace vulnerability and illustrate how human experiences have shaped my journey as a digital experience designer. A reminder that even in a robotic world, we ultimately find ourselves—human.
